On this day in 1776, the Dunlap Broadside — the first published version of the Declaration of Independence — began spreading throughout the 13 colonies.
It didn’t include all 56 signatures, just Hancock the president of the Congress and secretary Charles Thompson.
John Adams, writing to Abigail, about the Continental Congress' vote in favor of independence on July 2, 1776:
"The Second Day of July 1776, will be the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more. You will think me transported with Enthusiasm but I am not. -- I am well aware of the Toil and Blood and Treasure, that it will cost Us to maintain this Declaration, and support and defend these States. -- Yet through all the Gloom I can see the Rays of ravishing Light and Glory. I can see that the End is more than worth all the Means. And that Posterity will tryumph in that Days Transaction, even altho We should rue it, which I trust in God We shall not."
Last week, the left was claiming Justice Barrett was a white supremacist. Now, the right is saying she’s a traitor and insufficiently conservative.
Maybe she’s just doing the best she can and has the integrity to be impartial rather than fitting into the box you created for her
Once again, nearly all of these SCOTUS decisions can be changed by Congress: late arriving mail ballots, partisan gerrymandering, student loan debt forgiveness, asylum at the southern border, TPS designations, tariffs…
If you don’t like the decision: LOBBY CONGRESS!
@RomeovilleKid Not sure if you saw this. As of 8am it's still up. Absolutely wild from an official account of Mercury. I thought it was a parody account at first
I definitely thought this was a parody account. Absolutely wild that this is still up 8hrs later. The pettiness and jealousy of the rest of the @WNBA is wild.
Both Indiana Senators made headlines today for pushing legislation.
Banks: Added an amendment that targets DEI and the use of email email pronouns.
Young: Cosponsors a bill to ban Congressional Insider trading.
One is a cable news pundit the other is a legislator.
CLIENT: These federal charges seem serious. What kind of sentence could I get?
LAWYER: Depending on the next presidential election, you're looking at somewhere between life imprisonment and becoming a millionaire.
