Police called on 3 year old Black boy—for being "too good" at soccer.

Officers escorted his family away in front of all the other kids.

After league had them tresspassed from the field.

“They really called the police on a 3 year old because he had the ball too much," dad said.

The young athlete was already playing in a league with kids 2 years older than him.

Other parents on the opposing team are heard on video claiming the kid was "trying to put on a show."

“The war was started by YOUR guy!” Mehdi Hasan confronts a Trump supporter over rising prices and the state of the American economy.

During a heated exchange with Steve Cortes, Hasan challenged Trump’s claims about the economy, questioned why Americans are struggling with rising gas and grocery prices, and pointed out that real wages had been falling for five straight months.

Cortes repeatedly blamed the war with Iran, but Hasan wasn’t letting him off that easily.

“You’re treating the war like it’s a natural disaster… like it fell from the sky!”

Mehdi Hasan: You said in 2025: “Lecturing the American people and telling them, ‘No, things are actually fine,’ is just not going to work.” Why does Donald Trump not listen to you?

Steve Cortes: Some of the rhetoric about a so-called “Golden Age”—those sorts of terms, they’re not helpful, clearly.

Mehdi Hasan: Is it helpful to say, “I’ll never apologize for high gas prices,” “I love the inflation,” and “I don’t think about Americans’ finances”?

Steve Cortes: The reason he said that is because he was saying that getting rid of a nuclear Iran is worth it. I don’t happen to agree with that analysis, but that was his analysis.

Mehdi Hasan: He said it while also stopping to talk about his ballroom. Do you know how many times Donald Trump has mentioned the ballroom since he became president? Over a hundred times!

What does the average American think when they see their grocery prices and gas prices going up? He’s not a champion of the little guy; he’s a champion of himself. He wants to build vanity projects while grocery prices go up, but the ballroom’s getting built with taxpayer money!

Steve Cortes: Before the war, real wages were accelerating at a very dramatic clip. That’s why they elected Donald Trump. It was actually working really well pre-war.

Mehdi Hasan: You’re glossing over the truth. Before the war, the economy wasn’t doing great either. Do you know what the last quarter growth was in 2025 before the war? 0.5%. Measly. Pathetic.

Steve Cortes: What matters to most people is real wages.

Mehdi Hasan: And real wages are down five months running!

Steve Cortes: Yeah, because of the war.

Franco made the Führer wait.

October 23, 1940, Hendaye station. Hitler’s train sat on the Spanish-French border while Franco’s was still rolling.

When the Caudillo finally arrived, the most powerful man in Europe had already been left cooling his heels. The meeting that followed dragged on for nine hours of circular demands, territorial shopping lists, & polite obstruction.

Hitler wanted Spain in the war, Gibraltar, the Mediterranean, a southern flank against Britain. Franco wanted grain, oil, French North Africa, & time. He got the last of those.

On paper Franco was prepared to honor the war. He had accepted Axis aid during the Civil War, shared anti-communist rhetoric, & kept the door open. In practice he treated the alliance as a transaction he had no intention of completing on Hitler’s terms.

Spain was exhausted, its army thin, its ports vulnerable. Joining would have been suicide dressed as gratitude.

What made the stall personal, not merely strategic, was the deeper contempt. Franco was a devout Catholic who had built his regime on the Church.

Hitler’s private remarks about Christianity, his open scorn for its “Jewish” origins, its universalism, its refusal to kneel to race, were known in Madrid.

Franco had no interest in subordinating Catholic Spain to a movement that treated the faith as an obstacle or a temporary tool.

The waiting, the endless conditions, the refusal to commit: these were not only military prudence. They were the behavior of a man who disliked the person across the table & saw no reason to hurry into his war.

Hitler left furious. He later said he would rather have several teeth pulled than negotiate with Franco again. Spain stayed out. Gibraltar stayed British.

The meeting at Hendaye remains one of the cleaner examples of a weaker power using delay, faith, & national interest to refuse a stronger one, without ever quite saying no.
