REFORM SENTENCING GUIDELINES NOW. A paedophile has walked free from court after trading horrific child rape and abuse videos on Telegram. Before committing these crimes, he researched sentencing guidelines and deemed the risk was worth it.

Brandon Lee Forrest, 29, of Highfield Close, Sway, Lymington, admitted distributing category A, B and C child sexual abuse images. Category A is the most serious classification and includes material depicting the rape and sexual torture of children.

He also admitted making 27 category A images, 30 category B images and 21 category C images, as well as possessing two extreme pornographic images involving a dog.

Southampton Crown Court heard Forrest traded videos with Telegram users on two occasions. One video showed a young girl in “obvious distress” and suffering “tremendous pain”.

His internet history revealed searches for court sentencing guidelines, showing he was aware of the potential consequences.

Recorder Jodie Mittell KC told him: “I hope you are starting to appreciate that it is the children who are the victims in this case and not you.”

Despite the seriousness of the offences, Forrest avoided immediate prison. He received a 32-month sentence suspended for three years, alongside 100 hours of unpaid work and 30 rehabilitation days.

He was also handed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and indefinite notification requirements. His iPhone was forfeited.
