Ben Williamson, first career hit ... a 105.8 mph pull-side single after falling behind 0-2.
Heโs got over a dozen friends and family here tonight for his MLB debut, many of whom made a drive of more than eight hours. Cool moment for the Marinersโ No. 13 prospect by @MLBPipeline.
I shouldn't even respond to this point because it's so incorrect. But I'll take the bait.
1) Ovi's at 59 ENG in his career. Gretzky had 56. Relax.
2) Every goal Gretzky ever scored was closer to an empty net goal than a today NHL goal. Have you seen those goalies? They were 162 pounds and wore no pads. Scoring was way easier back then than it is now. The idea that OVI's doing it the cheap way is absurd. a 50-goal season today is like a 75-goal season back then.
There are two types of fans:
Those who prioritize Patrick Corbinโs contributions in 2019 โ and epic G7 performance in the WS โ and those who are angry that he hasnโt been good in the years since.
Those who appreciate the countless times heโs worn it to save the bullpen and those who donโt.
Those who respect that he took the ball ready to get his teeth kicked in as he pitched every five days for 6 straight years โ never taking the easy way out with a phantom IL stint or a shutdown to get work with fewer people watching him fail โ and those who donโt.
Those who admire that he was one of the only real veterans with any real money in the clubhouse the last couple years โ meaning he hosted and paid for way more than players normally do when players gather throughout a season โ and those who donโt.
Iโm not telling you Corbin was a fun watch over the last five years. Iโm not saying he threw well or that Iโm not looking forward to his money coming off the books. Boy, am I!
But his professionalism and dependability throughout his six years was top-notch in an era where those things arenโt as prevalent and revered as they once were.
Corbin had been a proโs pro and he was a WS hero. He gave this org a ton more than the Baseball Reference numbers show.

YOUR ARKANSAS TRAVELERS ARE HEADED TO THE TEXAS LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW!
Ben Williamson showing off the athleticism! Flashing similarities to former Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager, Williamson's full-extension dive and throw to first got the runner out at first.
College basketball has lost a legend. Lefty Driesell made a remarkable, indelible impact - not only on @JMUMBasketball, but on the entire sport.
The thoughts of all of JMU Athletics are with his family and friends durning this time.
