"ai will replace artists" "art isnt a real job anyway" then why so many people want to be an artist and faking their account to be an art account instead of just admitting they use ai

[Limercury (COMMS OPEN 💖) VGEN @Limercury_]

I've been seeing this complaint for a while now, and I think many people are confusing one thing: paying for an illustration does not always mean buying all usage rights.

Licenses exist specifically to define how that work can be used.

VGEN separates usage into three categories:

- personal use,
- indirect monetization,
- and stronger commercial use (merchandising).

The difference is not “how much effort the artist put into drawing it,” but how the illustration will be used.

It's not the same to:

- use an image as a profile picture,
- use it for monetized content,
- or sell products with it.

In the first case, the use is private.
In the second, the illustration becomes part of content that generates indirect income.
In the third, the artwork itself becomes a commercial product.

That's why different types of licenses exist. This is not something invented by VGEN or internet artists, it has existed for a very long time in illustration, design, photography, and music.

A different discussion is whether some artists explain their terms poorly or charge excessive fees, but the existence of commercial licenses itself is not strange at all.

Pro tip: If you you ever think your art is ass, just remember you don't use ai and any single line you draw is better than any slop gen ai puts out :)

Pick your favorite character to practice art on. Then choose ONE fundamental at a time to study until you learned it well before doing another. I get that beginners want to study everything at once, especially seeing everything on a book.

But I tell you, pick only one at a time.

If you’re bad at drawing the only way to get better is to keep drawing. Using Gen AI doesn’t make you an artist

if u see anyone use the retro vhs filter on their artwork, be aware that the creator of the site is an AI user!!

dont submit anything on the site to prevent them from potentially being used for AI
