Americans are reaching a breaking point.

Fraud fatigue is now a very real thing.

People are not only questioning the system, but are completely done with the system and considering not even paying taxes.

Why should we? It only gets sent to Somali Pirates, and fraudsters and wasted by the people who are selected to represent us.

Chip, as a fellow believer and as a pastor who shepherds families trying to raise their kids in the fear of the Lord, I feel compelled to respond to what you’ve written.

You’ve rightly identified a problem in modern Christian culture: too often, believers are quick to judge, slow to listen, and even cruel in their speech. That is sinful, and you are correct to call it out. We are commanded to love our neighbor and to speak the truth in love, with gentleness and respect (Ephesians 4:15, 1 Peter 3:15).

But brother, you’ve misdiagnosed the concern many of us have expressed and, in doing so, you’ve wrongly placed the blame on parents and Christians who simply want to obey God’s Word.

What grieves us is not that you were KIND to a same-sex couple. Kindness and hospitality are always in order. What grieves us is that you used your platform one that claims to be “family-friendly” to normalize and even celebrate a relationship that God calls abomination and sin (Romans 1:26–27, 1 Corinthians 6:9–11). That is not love. That does not point anyone to repentance, nor does it honor Christ as Lord. It confuses children. It undermines parents who are trying to teach their families what the Bible says.

You’ve said: “Talk, ask questions, listen… maybe even learn.” Brother, have you asked parents what it’s like to have to explain to their children why the family show they thought they could trust is promoting/normalizing what God calls sin? Have you listened to the pastors and mothers and fathers who are grieved that yet another public Christian has chosen cultural approval over faithfulness to God’s Word?

Jesus ate with sinners but He also said to them: “Go, and sin no more” (John 8:11). He loved them enough to call them to repentance, not to showcase their sin for entertainment. Love that does not call people to turn from sin is not the love of Christ it is sentimentality.

Chip, you’re a brother, and you have an enormous influence. Please, for the sake of the gospel, stop confusing grace with compromise. Stop rebuking Christians for clinging to God’s Word, and instead exhort all of us yourself included to walk the narrow road of both grace and truth.

We don’t hate anyone. We do hate sin, because it destroys the people we love. That’s why we speak up. Not to shame, but to warn, and to point everyone back to the cross.

I pray you’ll consider the weight of your words and actions and choose to use your platform not to placate culture, but to glorify Christ — even when it costs you.

Also, filter out some of the online vitriol and consider taking to heart some of the substantive concerns and heartbreak from the Christians who make up your fanbase.

We should love the sinner—that doesn’t mean we celebrate and promote the sin and participate in the multibillion dollar industry dedicated to destroying the family.
