During AMCEN side event on “Leading the fight against Environmental crime”, Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia made it clear: These crimes are not isolated — they are systemic, rooted in inequality, and driven by corruption, demand, and lack of alternatives.
The response must be just as coordinated: stronger enforcement, regional cooperation, empowered youth, and inclusive solutions.
Because governments alone cannot win this fight — but together, we can.

Working together, #UnitedforWildlife partners have been able to return almost 1,000 vulnerable and endangered lemurs & tortoises back to their home in Madagascar.
But how did they manage the largest ever repatriation of wildlife?
📹@UNODC
Financial investigations are vital to dismantling illegal timber trade networks.
@UNODC, @ThefiaU & @ODPPUGANDA held a training in Uganda on financial investigations linked to forest crime. A select group will now undergo training of trainers to support programme scale-up. 🙏🇪🇺
📢 Good news: 47 lemurs and 155 tortoises, once victims of illegal wildlife trafficking, are now safely back in Madagascar.
This operation highlights the power of global collaboration to #EndWildlifeCrime.

Congratulations to the 1,274 new recruits (22% female officers) of @KWSKenya. We see you as brave frontline protectors of Kenyan wildlife but also holders of human rights values in law enforcement. For the people, for the nature.
Today we remember all victims of organized crime & pay special tribute to all those like Judges Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino whose work and sacrifice paved the way for the adoption of the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime! #stoporganizedcrime
