After I replied, he started talking about college-related stuff. After a while, he said, “Aaruhi, I really want to go to Garba. I’m Muslim, so I probably won’t get entry, and I don’t have a partner either. Can you help me get entry with you?”

My salute to the Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar for his extraordinary bravery.

Despite being stabbed and seriously injured, he fought back, resisted, opened the cockpit door, and enabled passengers and crew to overpower the attacker — preventing a catastrophic mid-air disaster.

He saved the lives of 174 people, including Israeli citizens and other nationals.

I wish Captain Machchhar a speedy and full recovery.

He is a true hero.

-Rwanda schools before 1994 taught "Tutsis" were foreign invaders & "hutus" were moolnivasis.
-They used used ethnic quotas (reservations).
-They even forced kids forced kids to declare Hutu or Tutsi in class.

This early division of children into "us versus them" made later hate easy to spread.
& Later 8-10 lakh tutsis/moderate hutus were slaughtered by extremist hutus.

Today, the same pattern appears in India through Aryan-invasion stories, "Brahmanical patriarchy" lessons, reservations that limit general category students & official caste labels.
Classrooms and media keep repeating old grievances instead of shared values.

The coworker who lodged an SCST complaint against my mother in 2002 wasn’t an “enemy”. They barely knew my mother but was worried about their performance. They were known for perpetual tardiness. No one reprimanded or mentioned it because they were known for SCST complaints. The workplace just managed.

Similarly, Ma also had backup at a workplace event she was coordinating because the employee was (as expected) late. Because it was a public event the employee was nervous and expected a reprimand this time. So they preemptively filed the complaint against Ma just because she happened to be the event coordinator. It can be as trivial as that.
