Unfortunately, APR FC's performance in this competition, of all competitions, at our beautiful Amahoro Stadium and in front of our nation's biggest football supporter, H.E. President Paul Kagame, fell well below an acceptable standard.

Gor Mahia are a good and experienced team, but they are not a team that should embarrass APR FC in this manner. APR FC were beaten more by their own arrogance, lack of urgency, and poor preparation than by any gap in quality.

From the first whistle, APR FC lacked the intensity and desire expected of a home team in a tournament of this magnitude. In football, small details often make the biggest difference. Gor Mahia were on the pitch warming up at least 30 minutes before kick-off, and that readiness showed throughout the match.

Rivalry aside, this was neither a performance nor a result that any Rwandan football supporter who truly understands what it means to represent our nation could simply brush aside or take pride in. APR FC have a lot to reflect on. If they are serious about challenging for big honours, they must urgently address their mentality, preparation, and overall approach. Tonight, Gor Mahia simply wanted it more—and they deserved to win.
