We should never normalize murders during protests. We have to hold people accountable for any murders that occur during protests. The lives of Kenyans should matter.

Let's look at this from a different angle.

First, any allegations of abuse must be taken seriously, investigated thoroughly, and handled according to the law. Abuse against anyone, whether men or women, should be condemned, and anyone found culpable must be held accountable.

That said, politics is rarely straightforward.

There is also the possibility that the political vehicle Maraga has chosen is not acceptable to certain interests. If you cannot destroy the individual because there is little or nothing damaging to attach to them personally, the next option is often to weaken or destroy the vehicle carrying them.

In Kenyan politics, damaging allegations do not just affect individuals. They can stain entire parties, movements, and support structures. The real question may not only be what is happening now, but also what happens next.

Watch closely. If the current political vehicle becomes damaged, which alternative party suddenly emerges ready to offer him a ticket? Sometimes the answers lie not in the allegations themselves, but in who ultimately benefits from the fallout.

At times, Kenyan politics feels less like reality and more like a carefully written script where every character, conflict, and plot twist appears exactly when it is needed.
