My personal goal is to practice all the M’s so that I can model them (smoothly) for T to start next year. I also hope to have a mini pd at school to showcase these strategies. I also hope to loan this book to new staff. #hcpsread
The chart will help by clearly showing the role, what you can learn from to and most importantly how to start. It gives specific words and actions that the T can take to help S. It’s like a cheat sheet for the M’s #hcpsread
Because moving into and through each one role supports the S and data in a specific manner. Although we move to each role at need. Each is dependent on the others for success. #hcpsread
A2 by showing vulnerability we allow S to see us as learners and we get to actually demonstrate grit. That it’s ok not to be perfect and learning is continuous #hcpsread
A1 admiring students allows T to build on the strengths or the S and help S see the positive side of their abilities. It builds on the good rather than the bad so it helps instruction and the grit of the S. #hcpsread
F/up while coaching a teacher I was able to explain the “M’s” and get the teacher to use the first part. I was also able to model with a student and it was effectiveenought that the T was able to begin to see how it will help her next year #HCPSRead
A5 the mentoring I’m doing is really focusing on T and S I have been able to pop into more classes thru zoom and tape then help T look deeply at S interaction. It’s been great. Also Able to model more for T both small and large group. It’s been successful #HCPSRead
A3 mentor means scaffolding. So you add more coaching to start and gradually release and the S gets more independent. S application is our goal. #HCPSRead
@bowmanba I get what you mean but I see it more like a plan do check act It slides to me. I mean what if you mine poor info??? I guess we are kinda saying be flexible in the process.
A2 all the “m’s” are related. I see it as a cycle. You’ve got to uncover an area of need, then plan, demonstrate and check. Then start again. Each steps depends on the integrityof the step before to make sure you’re meeting students need#HCPSRead
Detailing the smaller steps makes it easier for the students to internalize as use a strategy. It also helps them apply it to more than just the lesson target. With e learning we need the clarity that small steps affords and makes it a little faster #HCPSRead
Susan Gitlin resource at mango. I think the best part of this whole book is that it breaks something so complicated so easy. The steps seem@logical. Like the language etc #HCPSRead
F/up I was complimented on my lesson clarity and I believe it’s because I’m focused on what’s being discussed here. We know what’s best practice. It’s nice to collaborate, name it, and practice it step by step. Makes it clear and purposeful #HCPSRead
A5 so my aha nugget was again clarity/organization. By llisting mini lessons T are able to group like strategies given to S so this allows S to practice strategies over different texts and situations. #HCPSRead
A4 I think our models need to be explicit and purposeful. I think we need to set an expectation for the outcome and repeat imit/connect it throughout the model. Clarity is key for both T and S. #HCPSRead
