english isn't my first language, so half of AI twitter reaches me through a translator. and every translator wrecks slang.
look at the last row. "monkey addiction, go fight" lol
bilibili just open-sourced Index-Translate. 150 languages, Apache 2.0, and you can give it a glossary so it keeps your terms as they are.
the 9B scores almost the same as the 35B on their benchmark, and there's a GGUF build. that should run on my 6GB card.
testing it this week.
@N01ennn This is the part that scares me as a non-dev. I've rebuilt the same "who I am and what I'm working on" context in 4 different tools. Whoever owns that file owns the switching cost.
@oliviscusAI "A pile of tests just to change a button color" is so real. Non-coder tip from the same idea: tell the agent what NOT to do, not just what to do. Half of my bad sessions were the agent being helpful in ways I never asked for.
@nrqa__ "Official" is doing a lot of work here. Most AI tutorials are someone's opinion of the tool. The company's own docs are boring, but they're the only ones that don't go stale in a month.
@malagojr Saving this, but one habit before installing any of them: a skill is instructions your agent will follow without asking. I read the SKILL.md first, like I'd read a contract. Takes 2 minutes and it's the only part a non-coder can actually check.
@GithubProjects "Official" is the key word here. Most MCP horror stories I've read start with some random server that got full access to a database. If the company behind the product built it, that's one less thing to vet.
@mattpocockuk Not a dev, but this works for non-coders too. At the end of a session I just ask "what did you have to work around?" Half the time the answer is something I set up wrong, not the agent.
I don't read code.
So before I install anything from GitHub, I run the same 6 checks every time.
Takes about 2 minutes. Saved me from at least 3 sketchy repos this month.

@testingcatalog voice is a different level of personal than text. your voice is basically biometric data, I'd want a clear way to delete what was already shared

6 GitHub repos you can actually use without writing a line of code.
picked by someone who can't code, so "easy" here means easy, not "just spin up a k8s cluster"
one rule for all six: download from the official repo only. half the "desktop installer" versions floating around are made by strangers, and that's how people get malware.
which one should I test next?
@kimmonismus "3.46B active" sounds like it'll run on anything. it won't. you still have to fit all 78B in memory, roughly 40GB+ even at 4-bit. fast once it's loaded, but loading is the hard part
@testingcatalog ultrafast matters more for agents than for chat. when it runs 40 steps in a row, 2x speed is the difference between waiting 10 min and 20
