Premier of Greenland, Jens-Frederik Nielsen posted the following on Facebook:

🇬🇱 Greenland is not for sale 🇬🇱

It should not be necessary to say so. But apparently it is.

A foreign individual is offering money in exchange for a signature to incorporate Greenland into another country. That is not only deeply concerning. It is disgraceful.

This is not how you treat a people. And this is not how you speak about a country.

We are a democratic society. Our future will not be negotiated in a taxi. And it will not be bought with money.

I strongly condemn this kind of behavior. And I expect the respect that every country is entitled to to be shown internationally.

Decisions about our country are made by us alone. That should be easy to understand.

Territory? Greenland is not a U.S. territory. Greenland is a part of the Kingdom of Denmark.

Greenland assumed full responsibility for healthcare in 1992, and its elected government has already rejected the hospital ship proposal.

You do not have authority over Greenland’s domestic affairs.

Focus on your own state instead of inserting yourself into matters that are neither yours nor within your jurisdiction.

The situation you describe is not unique to Greenland. Rural Alaska faces many of the same challenges — remote villages accessible only by plane or boat, no permanent doctors, limited diagnostics, and patients traveling long distances to hub cities like Anchorage for specialized care.

These are geographic and structural realities of Arctic regions, not evidence of neglect. Greenland’s healthcare system is a domestic matter for Greenlanders - not the State of Louisiana.

We in Greenland 🇬🇱 are healthy and doing well, sustained by our own traditional foods — including seal blubber, which is rich in vitamins and nutrients that have kept our population strong for generations.

Instead, you may want to focus on the internal challenges in the United States, where many citizens are in need of healthcare and cannot afford necessary treatment!

The King has now arrived at the camp in Kangerlussuaq, Greenland 🇬🇱 where students from the Arctic Basic Education programme are showing him how they establish what they call a BSO – a preparedness area.
Here, the King has been offered coffee and has put on a warm coat. The temperature in Kangerlussuaq is currently -25C.
