4. Learning about the CARES method to organise my evidence and artifacts so it covers all bases and criteria, makes what I’m trying to say clear easy to understand #pstchat
@Angie8881 C- context
A- action
R- results
E- evaluation
S- standards
So with an artifact (like a unit plan for example) and then writing an annotation following this layout to explain the context, how it was followed through, how it impacted student learning and a reflection
1. Sets a standard and encourages early career teachers to be really reflective of their practice from the get go, it also highlights a focus on what needs to be improved and how #pstchat
Thanks everyone who joined #PSTchat tonight, it’s been great learning from you all and I can’t wait to put some of your ideas into my practice as I begin my TRT journey next term! Big thanks to @MrJ_Wigg and @Angie8881 for organising!
As we wrap up for the night, I would like to thank everyone who attended and our guest host @giulia_scian. It was great to hear some fantastic ideas on all areas of the hidden curriculum. Please stay safe over the holidays & we will return in 2 week ready for some #pstchat's.
@MrJ_Wigg Yes, research definitely great for finding new strategies and I think it also comes with experience and understanding that what works for one child doesn’t necessarily work for the next
A4. Behaviour management is an area I don’t yet feel 100% confident with but similarly to the previous question- conversations like “how would you feel if that happened to you?” And “treat others how you want to be treated” i think work well #PSTchat
A5. Encouraging the S’s to talk about their culture and experiences and just making these things normal and talked about often would help children be more respectful and accepting of diversity
A3. I agree with this idea of the students talking about how their feelings and how they would like to solve it, it gives more perspective for the students to imagine how others are feeling #PSTchat
A3) Restorative talks are vital when students are dealing with conflict. Having them talk it out and explain how they both feel and where they can go from there. Allow both students to have a voice but also explain there are consequences for their actions. #pstchat
A2. This is a tough one for me because we want to make our students tough skinned while still giving them confidence, I think it’s about a perfect balance but Ive not put that into practice just yet #PSTchat
A1. Putting sustainability into everyday routines and explaining why we put certain products in recycle bins or trying not to waste water where possible, asking them why THEY think it’s important #PSTchat
We are all set for our last #pstchat for Term 3 with our special guest host @giulia_scian as we talk all things about how to embed the hidden curriculum into our teaching. Please come join @Angie8881@stephygsalazar and myself same time of 7:30pm next Tuesday! #aussieED
