Giorgia Meloni has suffered the first significant defeat of her three-and-a-half-year premiership.

The Italians have roundly rejected her plans to reform Italy’s sclerotic judicial system – even though those plans were in the election manifesto that persuaded so many of them to vote for her.

It is unlikely now that any Italian government will attempt such a reform for another generation. Italy is condemned to remain a country where the motto in every court in the peninsula – ‘La legge è uguale per tutti’ (the law is equal for all) – is but a sick joke.

Non ho mai, credo, scritto niente su Francesca Albanese. Il personaggio televisivo mi interessa poco e quello di osservatrice UN ancor meno.
Però una volta pronuncia "il perdono" al sindaco di Reggio Emilia, un'altra "il monito" ai giornalisti assaltati dai pro-pal. Insomma tende un po' troppo per i miei gusti ad atteggiamenti paternal-religiosi quasi che fosse una papessa dalla verità infallibile.
Insopportabile e credibilità attorno allo zero.

This is a Ukrainian soldier that lost both arms, both eyes and his hearing defending us all. To tell this man that due to the US electing a mentally unfit imbecile for president he has to give away the land he sacrificed so much to defend, cannot stand.

To tell the hundreds of thousands that have seen their children, their parents or their spouses mutilated, raped or killed for 4 years and counting at the hands of Russian soldiers that they will never get any justice, cannot possibly stand.

To tell Ukrainians that they'll just have to accept that the butchers of Irpin and Bucha will never be trialed for their crimes, all because the US could not care less and Europe finds it too legally intricate to give Ukraine all the frozen Russian billions, cannot stand.

With or without the United States, Europe cannot allow Ukraine to be forced into a so called "American peace deal" that will bring no justice and a very short lived peace. Europe must now finally use every means at its disposal to enable Ukraine to seek whatever justice and peace they see fit.

We owe this man at least that much.

When people hold different views, it may be a difference in perspective. But it may also be a difference in *development*

One thing that indicates higher and lower levels of development (vs. mere difference) is asymmetry:

A 10-year-old understands the thought processes of a 5-year old, and understands where they go wrong. But the 5-year-old doesn’t understand the thought processes of the 10-year-old. That’s asymmetry

Likewise, an expert can understands how a non-expert thinks and comes to mistaken conclusions. But the non-expert doesn’t understand how the expert thinks

Not everything is just difference in perspective. There are real differences in development (e.g., knowledge, understanding, ability, thought, skill). Asymmetry is one indicator that a developmental trajectory exists

Higher levels recognize lower developmental levels. Lower levels cannot recognize higher levels. Research shows this. It’s called the Dunning-Kruger effect

One implication is that at low levels of development, there may be no recognition that expertise exists. This explains quite a lot.

One of my favorite moments in psychotherapy:

A patient of mine was deeply struck when I pointed out a repetitive pattern in his life. In a moment of soul-rattling insight, he realized he had repeated the same mistake in his life time and again.

With the shock of recognition, he blurted out, “It’s true, it’s true! I do exactly what you say. I see it!” And then, with consternation: “Why do I do this? Why do I keep doing it? Is this just the way I am?”

I answered, “It’s the way you’ve been.”

La sua risposta è la migliore che un genitore potesse dare a quella mandria di bestie e ignoranti.

“Marc è mio figlio, e io lo amo esattamente per com’è. Non mi interessa se qualcuno storce il naso: io so quanto è speciale, quanto è amato, e quanto è libero. E se c’è qualcosa che voglio insegnargli è proprio questo: che può essere chi vuole, senza paura”.

E io lo ringrazio infinitamente.

@colvieux Ciao Barbara. Io ancora sono uno studente, ma sui social vedo quotidianamente cose molto peggiori di questa fatte da "professionisti".
Purtroppo a volte l'impressione è che la professione di psicologo/psicoterapeuta venga esercitata piu da cialtroni vari che da gente seria.
