@GovernorVA Rising student debt, like increasing tuition, reduced state funding, decreased public support, and increased pressure to "change everything" are symptoms of the real issues regarding education in America and Virginia. Until we address the causes, we'll continue chasing our tails.
@LongworthErnie Thank you @LongworthErnie. #OEVAp20 presentations, notes, recommendations, links, and other appropriate information will be shared as soon as possible.
I thank everyone who participated for an invigorating 4 hours!
@witchyrichy@LongworthErnie Forthcoming. Too much information and too many great ideas to disseminate immediately. Will share as soon as possible. Will include presentations, notes, links, and other appropriate information.
@lisalibrarian @senorcthulhu @mchris4duke I'd call what we had yesterday more of a debate than a dialogue, and, I agree, I don't think we're closer to a shared understanding.
@senorcthulhu @mchris4duke@lisalibrarian Perhaps true neutrality is our theoretical limit as an institution, but should that stop us from approaching as close as possible to it?
@mchris4duke@lisalibrarian So, what do you propose as a nobler goal? Censorship in the name of free speech? Again, do not conflate neutral with passive.
@mchris4duke@lisalibrarian Dialogue builds a shared understanding, upon which we may find common ground for common action. When have we given dialogue a chance?
@lisalibrarian@mchris4duke No it doesn't, and that you think so is disappointing. That you may be in the majority of librarians is outright depressing.
