#NEWSUN
Today’s match between Newcastle United and Sunderland was temporarily paused during the second half after a report of discriminatory abuse from the crowd, directed at Sunderland’s Lutsharel Geertruida.
This is in line with the Premier League's on-field anti-discrimination protocol. The incident at St James’ Park will now be fully investigated. We offer our full support to the player and both clubs. Racism has no place in our game, or anywhere in society. We will continue to work with stakeholders and authorities to ensure our stadiums are an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.
IF we win tomorrow’s derby, #NUFC will end the weekend just:
- ONE point off Everton in 8th, who sit in the Conference League spot
- ONE point off Brentford in 7th, who sit in one of the Europa League spots
- FOUR points off Liverpool in 5th, who sit in one of the UCL spots 👀
@WPJoseph@Vornhill if you need explaining to why watching one of the biggest jump races there is in the hope a horse dies, i think there might be a bigger issue.
I’ve been supporting this club for nearly 20 years and on Saturday I’ll get to watch my team live at the Bridge for the first time ever, been looking forward to this day for so many years, just emotional thinking about it.
See you on Saturday 💙🫶
