@JohnChr42 @WaggyRay @covid_clarity I mean, withholding all trans healthcare from trans youth, ie puberty blockers, may very well contribute to suicide rates in trans youth. I wouldn’t say it so dramatically but there are people, not you, who do want to treat transness as a disease to be eradicated
@JohnChr42 @WaggyRay @covid_clarity There is a middle ground here, to show care and support without demonizing transness while being realistic and only permitting healthcare with permanent consequences when there is no other option. Back to my original point, puberty blockers seem to be the most humane choice
@JohnChr42 @WaggyRay @covid_clarity I think these are valid concerns and I agree. Trans youth should be who they are but also understand that gender can be fluid, especially for trans people, and hormones have lasting consequences. We need to support them while doing what’s absolutely best for them physically.
@WaggyRay @JohnChr42@covid_clarity No of course not. I say well-informed because that is not the current process. I believe being well informed includes being in a place developmentally where you understand the consequences of your actions and can take responsibility for them.
@Macrogirl_LA@JohnChr42@covid_clarity I said to my mom these words “I know there are boys and girls, but I don’t feel like either.” That feeling never went away
@JohnChr42@covid_clarity I completely agree, if you see my other comment I state we need to weed out these misinformed doctors, because it does happen. I have no problem putting an age limit on HRT, but taking away puberty blockers is unnecessarily cruel as there are no irreversible consequences.
@WaggyRay @JohnChr42@covid_clarity I would like a compromise where we allow puberty blockers as we have been, get rid of the misinformed doctors, allow people to express themselves freely, while being realistic in the sense that HRT has some pretty big changes and consequences.
@JohnChr42@covid_clarity The issue is that a lot of the time people use the HRT argument as an attempt to shut down transness altogether. You can allow a child to express and work through gender without resorting to HRT and surgery immediately. That certainly won’t hurt anyone.
I truly think I will be at my company for the rest of my life. At the very least I will never work for an American company again. These Australians know how to fucking live
@CeriVeysey @PMCraftDsignr@paulmelzer1@amalaekpunobi Biology was often used to justify homophobia, only males and females can have kids, why do you want to go against nature? If you can understand sexual orientation is a preference, why can’t you understand sex or gender as a preference?
