@rowanfornow I just don’t think VP’s matter. As long as they aren’t scandalous I don’t think a prominent Vp is a good idea for the fact you get plagued with questions about them.
@_glorianas@stendhalist UoC + former uni’s had already announced inquest into hiring + time there. facility of education shut down its staff website. There is a chance that there will be some scrutiny of them. Media is invested in blame being partitioned elsewhere but will Want story to die.
@stendhalist@_glorianas Racism. faculty of education clearly was believed his fabrication. This idea of black existence as one of pepetual suffering overcome through sheer force of will. Arday already had media appearances prior to his appointment. They wanted him because it would make the news.
@CurtisDaly_ But was Cambridge willing to treat this as a matter to investigate at all without the public component? They didn’t announce the inquest until after his resignation. Same with other, prior employers.
@PriyamvadaGopal The fact they continued to go ahead with publication as said publication became a tool of attack was very reckless. That is ignoring pre scandal suspicions they seemed to have had.
@opinionatedobs7@hecubian_devil He resigned. Cambridge announced review as did other institutions. Everything beyond that was typical of cancel culture punishments of total ostracism
@RealDianeYap@hecubian_devil There was consequences for him. He lost job and other positions. After resignation thing continued. Running stories about his students and high school classmates is well beyond reasonable and was typical of cancel culture harassments.
@hecubian_devil One of cancel cultures great problems was its unwillingness to forgive. By making individual cases all or nothing, total destructive, witch hunts, you make it necessary for every accused to fight to the bitter end.
@CasperBryson he definitely took it a bit further than presenting his best version of events first And he most certainly used them to enrich himself with prominent position and glowing awards.
@Sturgeons_Law One or two fabrications makes sense for self|enrichment, scale here seems to indicate some sort of sickness that it various institutions should have caught. His initial book proposal has so much stuff removed it’s hard to think the publisher didn’t suspect it was false.
@owenjonesjourno I agree with everything with the exception of constant investigations. He did wrong, he used his fraud to enrich himself, examining the scope of wrong doing is reasonable
@stendhalist The thanksgiving stuff was pretty culture war. Her response to it was some therapy speak about trauma and there are few things the general public hate more than somebody sounding like they have been coached by a therapist.
@lukeisamazing Woke 1 wasn’t obsessed with prison reform but abolitionism, you are in effect agreeing with her but criticising her use of language and the optics that produces.
@Musa_alGharbi All the complaints for trail by media that have been made. Ultimately it wouldn't have happened this way if Cambridge and co had done their jobs or the media had been allowed to a single big story on him as opposed to the drip feed
