the sun rises differently here. perhaps its the october mist, yet even it's golden rays feel cold. strange how something so familiar can feel so foreign.
@DAMNATIO_M0RAI his eyes fell to the music box, brows meeting as the melody filled the room.
“a siren. heard tales of their song, men sailing willingly into rocks enchanted by the melody they forgot the sea beneath them.”
eirik rose a hand to study the box, a small smile remaining ─
@DAMNATIO_M0RAI that caught him off guard, but it wasn't unwelcome. a small smile folded as he returned view back to the flames.
“i offer a sword and you ask for an old fools company, that i can give. so tell me, pandora. in this new eden of yours, not the throne, not the power ─
@DAMNATIO_M0RAI “you speak of a world where man and creatures may live without fear of one another. a curious dream.”
he spoke aloud, to her and himself.
“if i offer my sword, what would you have me do?”
@DAMNATIO_M0RAI eiriks eyes found hers, locking in to show true listening, an intent of absorbing her words.
“my people spoke of nine realms, each with it's own place upon the great tree yet even the gods could not shape existence without sacrifice.”
he turned his posture to greet ─
@DAMNATIO_M0RAI ─ his eyes remained settled, soon pushing himself up to approach the warmth of the fire. a memory of comfort in his days.
“you say you only wish to exist, so tell me, what must we surrender for you to do so?”
@DAMNATIO_M0RAI he shifted in his seat, eyes following the figure of the woman approaching the fire. she was a curious being to the viking, and he trusted fate once upon a time.
“yet you speak of this boy as though he were a sword to be wielded. perhaps that is why he seeks your destruction?”─
@DAMNATIO_M0RAI ─ company, provided you remembered your manners.”
his brows met, a slight furrow of memory crossing.
“until they turned against a neighbouring village. never did learn of the offence those fools caused, only the silence after. you say mixed blood, that is new to me.”
@DAMNATIO_M0RAI he gave a low grumble of recognition, as if two feelings intercepted at once.
“ah, the seelie. aye know their kind.”
there was no surprise in his tone, as he casually sipped.
“we shared many a feast with them in my younger years. mead, music, dancing beneath the stars. fine ─
@DAMNATIO_M0RAI ─ whatever they could to ease the blades guilt.”
eirik took a drink, his features stern as he watched her own.
“I have no quarrel with a woman merely drawing breath. nor will I condemn her for what another calls her. but you speak of a counterpart, an enemy. who is this being?”
@DAMNATIO_M0RAI “strange. i have awakened centuries after my death, by that reasoning i am an affront to this natural order of yours.”
he reached for his mead.
“in my time, men slaughtered entire villages in the names of gods they hadn't seen. called their enemies monsters, heathens, ─
@DAMNATIO_M0RAI ─ the wrong party.
“if I am to side by you while enemies hunt you i would prefer to know why before one comes through the door swinging a sword. or whatever ridiculous thing men fight with today.”
@DAMNATIO_M0RAI eiriks expression changed, recognising the word, war. placing the glass down, he glanced up to her.
“men rarely sharpen their blades without reason. what do they say you have done?”
he had known feuds most of his first life to understand that every man believed themselves ─
@DAMNATIO_M0RAI his fingers tightened around the glass, his eyes dropping as he tried desperately to find meaning in the words that should have been impossible. hundreds of winters, everyone he had known, every hall he had entered.. gone.
“then there is no-where for me to go.”
it wasn't ─
he accepted the mead, eyes on the fluid before drinking it.
“how many winters have passed since men carried blades and villages prayed to old gods without whispering?”
"Yes well thats what happenes when you wake up from being. In lack of a better word dëad"
She poured 2 glasses of mead and held the glass out to him. She understood his pain. Ironically.
"What questions do you have maybe I can provide answers to them"
“i was told answers would be here. i have crossed lands that no longer remember my name. awoken beneath a sky i do not recognise. surrounded by men who dress strangely, carry no blades. yet mead still exists, i'd be a fool to decline such an offer.”
"Well. I'm not sure I have the answer you seek. Care for a drink. I have mead"
She spoke calmly as she stood from her chair. She waved the few servants she had out.
