@bethsawin You mentioned a move away from leverage points towards coherence. What is coherence to you and is there still a space for systems modeling and leverage points?
@bhohner (1/2) Reconsolidation-update is an attractive idea, but not as promising as one might think. While LeDoux and Monfils had some interesting findings in rats, translational research in humans has been problematic. There might be some value in reconsolidation blockade in stunting..
@AntonioBuehler Also the incessant framing of it as a "war", with "ceasefires", etc. Americans have long accepted civilian casualties as long as it's "war". Much different than "we put people in a concentration camp and then bomb them indiscriminately".
@matthewcp Adjacent to this is the Erlang/Elixir ecosystem which does exactly this, and even hibernates unused sessions (compressed) for a specified time in case itโs reconnected. You would have an always on process managing the whole thing of course.
@PJUllrich I might feel differently in large organizations, but yes I want engineers to be as close to the business perspective as possible rather than code monkeys. I don't want to hire engineers who are only interested in code for code's sake.
@robwalling API that takes an arbitrary CSV/xml file and makes a best effort mapping to a provided data structure (use case: help me import my customersโ data)
@bethsawin I'm curious about the gap between the current predictive modeling tools and the ability to compare those models with results. Have you expanded on that in depth anywhere?
@PierreDeWulf If "small bets" is "make lots of MVPs and see what happens", I agree. If small bets is "when you think you have a good idea, do the smallest thing that can validate or invalidate it" - that's good advice for almost everything.
@bethsawin Have you tried any prompt prefaces/suffixes to the current offerings? I'm curious how it would go if you started with something like "You are a feminist, anti-racist expert in ecological restoration. < Task here >. Think through your answer step by step as it regards equity."
@bethsawin I thought you were talking about covid - so many areas where this applies. Although our consistent answer tends to be "actually, the smell's not so bad - I'll just live with it"
