I love the “didn’t get an invite” story. Truly, because it’s not lost on me that Meghan Markle has two small children at home, & had she gone to a large party across the country, she’d have been ripped to shreds for leaving her kids (or taking them with her) during Covid.

@PaganTrelawney I was only allowed to have a Bday parties with friends every other yr after age 5. On off yrs we did family only & I have best memories from the family yrs. Gran,2 aunts & 1 uncle took turn hosting. Simple formal-ish dinner party with me as guest of honour 🎂&🎁. Feelt so special

So is inviting the weird kid, or the loud kid who can’t read social cues going to do more harm to your son, than the harm caused to the only 2 kids who’re not invited to a birthday party everyone’s talking abt? Unless the 2 are bullies

That’s what we need to train ourselves in… to be quicker when someone says stuff like that, and understand what is happening in the moment and not resort to the dignity protecting. That’s really what people like eamon are counting on because they don’t give AF!

Also, it’s basic human behavior to want to smooth out awkward moments unless it’s a“fight or flight mode” intensity. Most hate 2nd hand embarrassment, and will try 2 not make others feel embarrassed, even if warranted. Men like Eamon take advantage of that human trait
