@JonathanShedler Depends on your knowledge of the relationship they had with the parent and how long you have been working together. But unless I had clear info I'd ever on side of not leaving a message like that.
@JonathanShedler What if self understanding is inherently linked to understanding how various forms of oppression operate on us psychologically ? Think about this in the case of domestic violence or some one that's suffered racist abuse.
@JDaviesPhD There's an over emphasis on the developmental component of this phenomena in the psyche profession's. As she points out it's an almost ubiquitous experience in our culture.

The economist Grace Blakeley wrote about this phenomenon recently. As well as being a part of capitalist ideology as you say, She argues blaming ones self gives you a sense of control in a society that's increasingly insecure and uncertain.
@JonathanShedler Isn't this a problem with the market model of therapy rather than the therapist themselves? It's an understandable adaptation to economic necessity for many therapists
What philosophers call the good life or flourishing is largely (not totally) constituted by the right kind of personal relationships. (Ofc, there must also be minimum level of physical well-being, etc.)

Don't gaslight us @EmilyThornberry.
The context was Israel's Defence Minister, Yoav Gallant, said all the essentials of life would be cut off from Gaza because they were fighting "human animals".
You helped justify that, and you'll never, ever scrub the shame away.
🚨 URGENT 🚨 out in West Norwood today marching on @northwooduk to defend our member, Haydeh, who is facing eviction from her home after six months of severe leaking.
While reading a testimony from Haydeh, an employee grabbed our members phone, locked their office and ran away!
1/3 Not many years ago, I was publicly ridiculed at an @rcpsych conference when I gave a talk about the role of trauma in psychosis. Giving a similar talk in Edinburgh, I was told that a person's abuse could be caused by the same genes that caused mental illness.
