@cszabla@EdwardEGibbon On a more serious note, this is so much the conceited historian of ideas who never tried to pin down a case study or a social phenomenon in Central and Eastern European (or for that matter in any) archives but who thinks he is the master of the historiographic universe.
@Nkabcen@roddreher Have you checked Medián's post election poll on voters' motives? (Guess no, you don't understand Hungarian). That shows people ejected Orbán not for economic reasons. Rather because they understood corrupton was just the most visible aspect of how autocracy works.
@chiefrabbi Oh, if that is true why is he still a minister in the government? Is it customary in Israel to have the most reviling people, the very antithesis of the nation's core values serving as ministers?
@postdiscipline@sunraysunray I especially like the part that capitalism can only unfold in a society that is capitalist, tautologies being the signs of great intellect.
@postdiscipline@sunraysunray Not stranger than a definition that defines capitalism as both an individual psyche (drive to accumulate capital indefinitely) and as structural (inputs and outputs commodfied and sold on the market).
@Nkabcen@RepJackKimble That might be the reason the US seceded from Britain. But why is it so hard to understand that since the US is not a British colony anymore the US constitution is not law in the UK?

Wir hatten eine sehr gute Diskussion, über Ungarn, Wahlen und was zu erwarten! Um mich selbst zu überraschen - auf Deutsch. @IDMVienna@CaroFerstl@PTechet
We’re delighted to welcome three new fellows to the Institute this month: Alessandra Mezzadri (@FeministOnMarx), Gábor Egry (@glegry) & Katharyne Mitchell
Their projects explore how capitalism and empires shape labor and space - from debt-driven exploitation in global supply chains to the influences of Austria-Hungary on the economic space in South-Eastern Europe and the layered history of Tempelhof Field in Berlin.

It is ironic and liberating that after these guys, whose only brief encounter with Hungary was a visit to the Danube Inst bubble, lectured us for so many years what is really going on in our country, we can finally simply retort: you have no idea about this country.
@stefanauer_hku Oh, really? I'm glad to learn about another Hungary expert from afar. Actually, if you check the polls Hungarians, are anything but anti-LGBT, and due to Orbán's agressive anti-LGBT policies even gay marriage has now majority support. Glad to enlighten you!
@BachmannRudi You know what is another widespread and widely accepted rumor among the people about domestic abuse? Orbán beating his wife regularly. Would he distribute that so easily too?
@Teszelszky They won't, this guy is just stupid. They will take the oath in front of the crown but not to the crown. Even if they would want to do it, it would not be possible as the text of the oath is stipulated by law. And taking the oath is a precondition of becoming an MP.
