The lack of consistency this season has been awful. Just scrap it.
At least human error/indecision in the moment was a reasonable excuse imo. Having every camera angle, taking 5 minutes to check, ruining the atmosphere and flow of the game, and still getting it wrong is awful.
@GaryRWard Surely he has to agree a contract of the pull the trigger on the clause? If he's given assurances about a pathway to the Spurs squad, he'd presumably reject any offer from Preston.
Why is everyone panicking so much?
Really interesting ideas here, especially the Ball-Action Value model.
One thing I’d be curious about is how are you defining the four parameters that drive the weighting? Are they purely event-based (location, pressure, outcome etc.) or are you incorporating context such as phase of play or team structure?
Also on the small-sample scouting idea: do you see that as something that complements traditional live scouting, or something that could narrow the shortlist before deeper work begins?
I like the direction of trying to explain the “why” behind actions rather than just counting them. Interested to see where it develops.
Spent some time diving into Nestory Irankunda’s profile and the context is what makes it fascinating.
Only 10 starts.
Only one full 90.
Yet he still rates strongly for big chances created, dribble volume and % passes into the final third against positional peers (900+ mins).
That’s impact per involvement.
He’s not a high-touch, circulation-heavy winger. He’s a vertical, front-foot attacker. When he receives, he’s looking to break lines, commit defenders and force something decisive. Strong dribble success paired with above-average duel numbers also suggests he’s not just flashy, he competes.
The game model fit leans clearly towards direct / vertical systems. He can function in possession or transition setups, but his natural profile thrives in tempo and penetration rather than slow control.
The key question now isn’t talent, it’s sustainability.
Can the efficiency hold when the minutes rise?
Can he translate high-impact bursts into consistent 90-minute influence?
At his age, with managed exposure so far, there’s serious developmental runway.
Profile built using positional peer filters (900+ mins) and percentile modelling in Python.

Ashley Phillips profile 📊
At 20 years old, he already has serious senior exposure, and it shows.
Elite aerial win %, strong clearance volume and consistent box defending define the current profile. He looks comfortable dealing with direct play and sustained pressure against senior opposition.
Right now, the data leans towards a traditional defensive CB. But the interesting part? The passing numbers.
His accuracy and involvement suggest technical security that hasn’t yet been fully stretched in a more front-footed, possession-dominant system. I’d love to see him in a higher line, asked to break lines more often and defend bigger spaces.
If that pass accuracy holds under increased responsibility, his ceiling shifts considerably.
For a 20-year-old centre-back, the foundation is strong. The next step is context.

@MajesticOnline I think it's more that no one knows the answer. I've always been on the side of the "never go back" mentality.
Would love to see a manager like Eden Terzic given the nod. But no single manager guarantees success; not Poch, not Mourinho, not Conte. 🤷🏻♂️
