@150Phil We also have different goals, and mine is just to get everyone the transparency and evidence to support the any decision, they have promised this disclosure, lets hope it shows the full picture

@150Phil i’ve enjoyed the debate, i hope for the sake of the game it’s not the only outcome, and we can find a way to repair it. but for now the only people who have a say is the WRU and the Clubs, so we will have to see which way the wind will blow

@150Phil We know the cost, and in 2025 it posted £498k in profit after tax, but was that from the WRU use or actual customers, that way you know if it’s a profitable going concern and not just locking up £9.2m of capital

@150Phil We’ve always stated if there is evidence to support 2,3 or 4 we would support that, i still believe with reform, 4 is possible, but it has to be an evidence led decision, the reduction still hasn’t been fully costed or disclosed, Abi admitted that, in the interview

@150Phil i imagine that redundancy may be included, the 2026 disclosures should shed some light on that, it doesn’t cover what’s needed, but how much have they also spent on consultants, the hotel, catering and hospitality, and i agree Reddin hasn’t provided a return on investment

@150Phil Should’ve clarified that private finance is required, even the WRU state that even if it’s 2,3 or 4 private finance is required it’s in their own consultation. and the argument isn’t the number of clubs, it’s about the WRU not honouring the rules of governance and transparency.

@150Phil i haven’t admitted it can’t, but the WRU would have to do more on cost cutting, if you check the public disclosure, 2025 headcount was unchanged at 344, but staff costs rose 11.5%, key-management compensation rose 35.2%, and i’m sure there is plenty more under the mattress

@150Phil Let’s be clear i only ever wanted transparency, and end to legal battles and in fighting, because it’s players, clubs, communities & supporters that are suffering. The WRU was established to support all of welsh rugby, it’s not unreasonable to hold them to that promise.

@150Phil @ccurts2 Agreed, but for a club to be capable of getting the level of investment needed to drive growth it first needs a future and certainty, and that means a decision that players and supporters can get behind, this conversation is proof the current board provide neither

@150Phil Actually i went on record with the western mail to say the decision to attempt to enter the PRL should be the club’s decision

@150Phil I’m not saying that at all, but their decision has accelerated the professional funding issue, and i don’t envy them making that decision, and when i spoke with RCK i told him i didn’t think him or the board going at the time was the right move, but they had to talk to everyone

@150Phil Agreed, but why are the 2 clubs that failed the ones that got saved, they could’ve let them go and none of us would be having this conversation

@150Phil If the WRU had got fully behind the pathways and communities i would’ve stayed silent, and your right the pathway can merge, but there will be a reduction in player spots, and i agree with both consultants statements, competition should see better players, but so is injury risk
