#TBT: Around 1950. My brothers are no longer with us but our childhood in Winnipeg was secure and happy. My little brother Gary and I were very close. When he was young, he had Perthes disease. That meant hip/leg problems that required a lift in his shoe and a brace. It was my job to look out for him. It's tough enough to be a kid without a challenge like that and the teasing it brought but he not only overcame, he grew up to be a great person, father and businessman.
