If best-sellers are any indication, the reigning philosophy of life is this: "Work hard. Retire young. Die rich." How pathetic, how tragic, how wrong is this, especially for a Jesus follower? Instead, how about this: "Play well. Never retire, only re-tire. Bounce your last check"
"The content of the Gospels must come to life in such a way that the Gospels become a permanent presence in and possession of the mind of the disciple." from Renewing the Christian Mind
"Accordingly, the practical aim of the person who takes obedience seriously is not to obey, but to become the kind of person who easily and routinely does obey as a result of devotion to Jesus and consequently of taking him as Lord, teacher and friend." from Life in the Spirit

"Give me one hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I care not a straw whether they be clergymen or laymen, such alone will shake the gates of hell and set up the kingdom of heaven upon earth." –John Wesley to Alexander Mather (1777)
“Speak some jazz into people’s lives when they miss a couple notes. Run to them. Don’t give them advice; say their names. And if you don’t know their names, don’t say a thing.“ #EverybodyAlways
