It’s being called sedition, treason, domestic terrorism, but we must call this what it is: a coup attempt at the U.S. Capitol - called for and encouraged by the U.S. president.
A dark day in our nation's history.
Our nominees for the Justice Department will restore the independence of the Department, so it serves the interests of the people—not a presidency. They’ll rebuild public trust in the rule of law and work to ensure a more fair and equitable justice system. https://t.co/MSCRAwsmaH
Good for the WH aides resigning in protest today, but it's not exactly a badge of honor that it took a violent insurrection for them to decide to distance themselves (when they only have 14 days left anyway).
Today is a reminder, a painful one, that democracy is fragile. To preserve it requires people of good will, leaders with the courage to stand up, who are devoted not to pursuit of power and personal interest at any cost, but to the common good.
On August 24, 1814, the British stormed our Capitol and set fire to it.
Now the Capitol has again been breached and sieged.
Donald Trump incited this. He is responsible for this. And he is silent as this tragic moment continues.
Let me be very clear: the scenes of chaos at the Capitol do not represent who we are. What we are seeing is a small number of extremists dedicated to lawlessness. This is not dissent, it's disorder. It borders on sedition, and it must end. Now.
Mr. President-elect @JoeBiden, we stand with you today, tomorrow and into the future to secure and defend American democracy.
We look forward to you taking the oath of office and upholding your promise
Today is a good day.
It’s easier to be a parent this morning.
Character MATTERS.
Being a good person MATTERS.
This is a big deal.
It’s easy to do it the cheap way and get away with stuff — but it comes back around.
Today is a good day.

America, I’m honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country.
The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not.
I will keep the faith that you have placed in me.
