In just the last 10 days, some of the world’s biggest companies announced thousands of job cuts.

Barclays: 5,000
American Express: 3,500
Volvo: 2,500
eBay: 1,000
Netflix: 1,000 (reported)

That’s roughly 13,000 jobs across just FIVE companies.

Zoom out. US employers have announced 573,195 job cuts so far in 2026. Tech alone is at 165,925, up 54% from last year. AI is cited in 120,136 cuts, the top reason this year.

Meanwhile, the four biggest US tech companies plan to spend about $710 billion on AI this year.

The money is going into machines. The jobs are going out the door.
