I cannot fall asleep at night when I try to go to bed,

Counting my few accomplishments fills me with such a sense of dread,
Memories of loved ones drown in this ocean of tears that have shed,
Thoughts ricochet and whirl, in an endless maelstrom of disarray,
As sleep remains an ephemeral mirage, slowly slipping further away.
Little blinking L.E.D.'s release dopamine addicting me to the chase,
Can anyone lend me a chainsaw so I can cut off my restless legs.
A labyrinth of memories, regrets, and unfelt emotions I buried,
Each mistake a steel pinball the burden of which I have to carry,
My dreams trapped in the corners, elusive as they seem, In this relentless game, a sleepless, never-ending dream. With flippers of exhaustion, I try to make it cease,
To slow this frenzied chaos and find some inner peace, But the pinball in my mind, it shows no sign of rest,
A ceaseless, tireless game, with an uninvited guest.
So I lay there in the darkness, the hours of my short life tick and tock away,
All I can do is Hope for respite at the break of a brand new day,
For in the realm of the elusive Sandman, I hope to finally find the key,
To silence my Pin Ball Brain so I can finally get some long overdue sleep.
