@sophieRblake You know, I really am now -
Had a rough but fortunately fairly short stay in a care home, but since being home have been looked after sooo well. Thank you for your kind words.
@Ms_Deathwish I can’t get out at all now but when I could the WAV was incredible.Earlier on we used a lightweight chair we could get on the bus with and I did actually really like that cos I felt I had proper freedom but, well, you’ve been on the pavements on our home town, it’s not great!
@Ms_Deathwish I was surprised at how different models and types feel. Get measured properly. In the end I got a manual chair with add-on motor but it was very expensive and it was about 16 weeks wait to get one in stock. You’d be very welcome to borrow mine to see how you feel about the type!
@mollyfentonx it’s so rare to see someone saying this. I can hardly bear to look at my stupid hamster face. A friend said I should try and take photos of myself even though I hate the way I look now: her mum died when she was young and she treasures ALL the photos. It’s really stuck with me.
@Jebadoo2@Ms_Deathwish Pretending what isn’t happening? BMA proposed perfectly reasonable adjustments and opt outs. You can’t say you don’t want people to be forced into a position and then get upset when ways to make sure nobody is forced into a position are proposed! What’s wrong with what they said?
@Ms_Deathwish@KorgTheBronan Urgh that’s inhumane. And it’s always so short sighted - they can’t ever seem to see that there are also economic benefits to looking after people.
@Ms_Deathwish@KorgTheBronan I claimed incapacity benefit in 1996 and it was so traumatic that when I just had my continuing healthcare assessment (so 30 years later!) I had flashbacks and was in such a state. Even though those assessors were kind and compassionate! The systems have cruelty built in I think.
@Ms_Deathwish@tracey_crosbie@TheDryhtscipe@HelenMagi@doctor_oxford I think any UK gov will manage to screw things up but from my POV I need to cling on to a little hope. Also if we’re going to get all “first they came for the T2 diabetics” there needs to be some receipts. Being questioned isn’t a bad thing, scrutiny is important and positive
@Ms_Deathwish@TheDryhtscipe@tracey_crosbie@HelenMagi@doctor_oxford I did spend the afternoon doing karaoke with my kid so there was a bit of time off! I strongly agree UK gov is crap and we are in terrifying times re: how we look after vulnerable but if the bill passes we need to be watchful and supportive so it translates as good legislation
@Ms_Deathwish@TheDryhtscipe@tracey_crosbie@HelenMagi@doctor_oxford Those without capacity are already excluded. Those not terminally ill are excluded. We can’t legislate on what’s not being debated or no bills would ever be passed or struck down. It’s always weirdly assumed I haven’t done the reading too… I do almost nothing but the reading.
@Ms_Deathwish@TheDryhtscipe@tracey_crosbie@HelenMagi@doctor_oxford re: intellectual disability and autism but we know communication issues are being addressed and also while it’s pertinent to the debate it’s not a terminal diagnosis - but I do think it was important their voice was heard - what did you think?
@Ms_Deathwish@TheDryhtscipe@tracey_crosbie@HelenMagi@doctor_oxford I’ve seen nothing at all that suggests diabetics would qualify under what’s being talked about. Particularly T2, but neither T2 or T1 are considered terminal illnesses so aren’t part of the debate. Jennifer Bryden’s submitted evidence from Jan 25 makes a lot of interesting points
