@minfrin@robjtede I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made
@VictoriqueM my manager does this and it can get irritating, but at least he’s on the level and happy to be pushed back on.
occasionally, it’s helpful. often, it’s stressful and distracting. he gets it at least. it would be so much worse if it was someone arrogant
@ezraklein 2016, tech left: Fully Automated Luxury Communism! We were all about Abundance before Ezra!
2016, et al: that’s silly, that will never happen
2026, et al: You’re going to destroy us all! but also, we need Abundance somehow…
call me jaded, but FAGSLC is still the future
@lonzowastaken tool usage is mundane at this point. you can tool use yourself to a full e2e testing suite for an app if you so choose (and have good docs)
I still spend a LOT of time figuring out the right abstractions and interfaces (user and programming).
I recently built two components for shadcn/react. Each took weeks of UX research, experimentation, and iteration to get right.
AI hasn't accelerated this part yet, at least for me.
What it has done though, is help me fail faster. I can now go through many more failures before a component or code is ready.
@Scobleizer they’ll be conscious of the user being an asshole? i say “conscious” rather than “know” because there’s an adaptive response
they certainly seemed aware they were in a testing harness. awareness and agency… reserving any deeper reading, but it’s pretty interesting!
@AriDrennen “no gender surgeries for minors”is the easiest straw man in the world. even at peak woke, the response was “that is not the standard of care, you’d lose your license”
