RM stated "We live in an age defined by boundaries. I hope this exhibition will serve as a space for reflection on the boundaries between East and West, Korea and America, modern and contemporary, and the individual and the universal. While there is no set way to appreciate the exhibition, I hope it will serve as a small but strong bridge for many."

Janet Bishop, Chief Curator on behalf of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, stated, "Visitors will have an unprecedented opportunity to experience the dialogue between RM's beautiful and contemplative collection of paintings and sculptures, alongside the rest of the collection."
