I just helped students and families keep getting the support they need at school by sending the government a message that wages need to keep up. Join me, send an email https://t.co/XBzfsrwm18
I’m excited to kick off 2025 with some personal news. Alberta’s New Democrats are on the move.
Last year we became one of the largest provincial political parties in Canada and I became leader! And we didn’t stop there.
Since then, folks from all corners of this province have been reaching out with their support and advice. I’ve gotten to know and work with a fantastic caucus of New Democrat MLAs. I’ve spent the last six months with the team listening to Albertans about their worries, their priorities, and their hopes.
As you know, with our former leader Rachel Notley’s retirement, I have an opportunity to join our MLAs in the Legislature. I believe Alberta New Democrats can be a thoughtful government-in-waiting with real solutions for Alberta families.
That’s why I’m officially announcing today that I’m putting my name forward for nomination as the Alberta NDP candidate in Edmonton-Strathcona for an upcoming by-election.
This doesn’t mean I’m leaving Calgary behind! While still proudly Calgarian, I’m already dividing my time between the two cities and I’m looking forward to learning more about Edmonton.
This nomination means that I’ll be in the Legislature to go head-to-head with Danielle Smith soon.
If you’re an Alberta New Democrat member in Edmonton-Strathcona - I hope you’ll join us at our nomination meeting January 22.

Everywhere I go and talk to people in this province, I'm hearing the same thing - hope is back on the horizon.
This campaign is about shifting our mindsets to what is possible. Together. To what we can do FOR Alberta. FOR all of us.
UPDATE: The lockdown for West Edmonton Mall is in the process of being lifted. The area in Phase 3 where the shooting occurred will not be accessible as police investigate the incident. We will send out another update once more details are available.
The West Edmonton Mall Transit Centre has been reopened. Some routes may be delayed. Edmonton Police and Transit Security are on site to direct passengers, but are still encouraging everyone to stay away from the area if possible. #yegTransit
UPDATE: Currently we have confirmed that three people sustained serious injuries in relation to this shooting and all of them have been transported to hospital for treatment. The Mall remains on lockdown at this time.
I just signed a petition to keep Alberta in the Canada Pension Plan. Will you join me? Together we can stop Danielle Smith from using our retirement money for her own political agenda. Sign the petition now! https://t.co/NNwUNLxv4A #workersdemandbetter#ablab#abpoli#ableg
Alberta has the building blocks in place to be a leading jurisdiction in high-tech research and development.
We can attract new tech companies, create new jobs, invest in training, and develop post-secondary excellence. #abfuture

We just did some math. The return to office plan will add an extra 162,000 tonnes of CO2 pollution into the atmosphere EVERY YEAR. That’s the equivalent of adding 35, 217 new cars on the road. For a gov’t trying to reduce its carbon footprint: make it make sense. #cdnpoli#canlab
Humble Patrick Marleau. One of the good guys in hockey and beloved by many around the NHL. From Aneroid, Saskatchewan to San Jose, California and points in between, he loves this game like nobody else. #SJSharks#Marleau1768
Mind blowing stat>> Patrick Marleau of #SJSharks has appeared in at least one game with 37% of every #NHL player who has ever played in the 104 year history of the league (3009 of 8100)
