​Singer and actor Ren (real name Choi Mingi), formerly of the group NU'EST, has filed an injunction against his agency, Big Planet Made Entertainment, to suspend the validity of his exclusive contract. According to reports on September 22, Choi Mingi recently submitted an application for an injunction against Big Planet Made Entertainment to the Seoul Central District Court through his legal representative, Surim Law Firm, with the first hearing date set for October 12.
​Choi Mingi had been preparing to resume his activities after completing his alternative military service as a public service worker on June 25. However, Choi Mingi’s side claimed that the agency failed to assign dedicated personnel—including a dedicated manager, A&R, and PR teams—and did not present any concrete activity or production plans.
​Big Planet Made is a subsidiary label under ONE HUNDRED, led by Chairman Cha Ga-won. Right after his discharge, Choi Mingi’s side met with Cha Ga-won and his representative to hear explanations regarding support for future activities and observed the company’s situation, but mutual trust was damaged as no substantial activity support was provided afterward.
​Consequently, on August 25, Choi Mingi’s side sent an official notice (certification of contents) to the agency requesting corrections regarding contract violations. They requested dedicated staff, future activity plans, settlement-related documents, and materials proving the sustainability of the company's business, but reportedly received no satisfactory answer.
​According to Choi Mingi’s side, the agency's representative responded that "it is difficult to provide settlement and related documents because there are currently no employees left and handovers regarding existing tasks were not carried out." Furthermore, it was reported that Chairman Cha Ga-won, through his representative, conveyed a position that Choi Mingi should pay a penalty fee for the remaining contract period to terminate the contract.
​Choi Mingi’s side stated that they took legal action after judging that the company was attempting to maintain only the binding force of the contract while being unable to perform normal management tasks properly. They cited that after having already experienced a long hiatus due to military service, delaying his return further due to a contract dispute would cause irreparable harm, which served as a primary reason for filing the injunction
