@ericweinstein Definition of "military grade" isn't remotely what you think it is. Contract out to at least 3 and cheaper always wins. Granted it's 5x assumption. Box within a box. Outside the box always wins.
@AlchemyAmerican When @FlintDibble shows his academic lack there of knowledge, you know you've done something right. Kinda like a 5 yr old trying to understand advanced trigonometry.
@ShawnRyan762 Have you guys talked to tunnel to towers people since they are building vet communities? I work at an army depot and lots of vets work here to include me. This crap makes me want to sign back up at 47 years old.

“Layered binary” (the same method some UFO witnesses sketch) is actually a real, usable compression + error-correction trick we’re mostly ignoring.
One symbol carries 2–3 bits instead of 1 by adding shading/thickness/phase.
→ 2.5–3× denser storage
A 70B model drops from ~140 GB to under 50 GB while staying almost as accurate.
Perfect for:
• edge devices
• satellite / deep-space model updates
• cheap federated learning
• surviving cosmic-ray bit flips on long missions
If an advanced intelligence ever wanted to beam a full AI seed to a human using only pen & paper in 1980… this is exactly the encoding they’d pick.
We can probably prototype the encoder/decoder in a day.
Anyone at xAI want to try it on a small Llama? I’ll volunteer the cycles
