#KGS WKY summer employee Talon Counts and hydrogeologist Glynn Beck walked Little Bayou Creek, McCracken County, with a drone-based thermal camera and YSI field parameter meter looking for groundwater seeps. The YSI was used to collect temperature measurements in deep pools. Color range for the thermal image: red is hot, and blue is cool. The blue indicates the cooler groundwater discharging into the warmer surface water and shaded sand bar (green). The tree vegetation is pink to red (hotter). #Kentucky #geology #geoscience

If you're a #KGS geologist doing field research, you have to be a jack-of-all-trades. Not only are you required to design the project, get the funding, complete the research, and analyze the results, you have to fix all the equipment along the way.

Glynn Beck, KGS hydrologist in the western #Kentucky office, with assistance from Zach Creech and Taylor Valastek (UK Plant and Soil Sciences), had to fix a Blue Water Farms edge-of-field water monitoring network station in Trigg County. The group repaired a wooden wingwall, filled blowouts with concrete, and worked with a contractor to remove a precariously leaning tree trunk, and restored the earthen berm.

Big in the number of monitoring stations.

Big in the impact it will have on #Kentucky agricultural producers and conservation practices.

Researchers from the @UKAgriculture and the @KGSNews partnered with the @USDA_NRCS, @kysoybean, the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund (KADF), and nine anonymous landowners to establish a network of 29 edge-of-field water quality monitoring stations distributed throughout western Kentucky, collectively known as Blue Water Farms.

Data collected from these stations will help:
1) Kentucky agricultural producers make knowledgeable nutrient management decisions, and
2) Identify conservation practices that result in sediment and nutrient retention.

@NewburghPost44 Crazy thing is all the current dads and previous dads of sons playing, if the dad played, most likely played legion. Thats all there was and the competition local and great. Travel ball is not needed, but willingness to work and develop is.

@NewburghPost44 Just left Pate/Newburgh Championship games at Mulzer Field. Talked to 2 dads that are burned out with travel ball, loving legion ball. My son played legion for Newburgh, he loved it and we (his parents) loved it. Son never did travel gig, played JUCO, D1 and now Independent Pro.
