An image this morning from my cottage window using the Dwarf2.
Zoom in on the horizon you can see the sand dunes of Balashare and the Monach Isle Lighthouse which is about 14 miles away. This is due to cold air denser than warm air, and therefore has a higher refractive index
@GM7PBB@IslesWeather We’ve had clear skys the last few nights John but been quite windy. Hopefully things will improve.
Looking at catching 62P/Tsuchinshan and The Eyes Galaxies NGC 4435 and NGC 4438.
Although the Dwarf2 isn’t a true telescope it should resolve them with enough subs.
@sweenyness I don’t think there’s many hedgehogs up here on Uist either now, they use to catch them and send them back to the mainland to save the many ground nesting birds we have here on the island.
We’ve had a bit of snow here overnight on the Outer Hebrides, we have a yellow warning for snow and ice for the next few days.
If your driving up here take extra care out there.
Check out https://t.co/8awwL6rixq here on North Uist for live updates.
Scalpay from Leac Easgadail - June 2022. Despite a good forecast, conditions en route to the top from the Postman's Path were anything but, with blustery winds and prolonged showers. Luckily, there was a ten minute clearance at the top and it was possible to get the camera out...
Amazing video from the Isle of Harris taken by my friend and fellow tornado chaser John Finney during a recent trip to the island.
Thanks to suppose John Finney photography for sharing with us
