Drug addiction (a statistical likelihood after taking drugs of most sorts) should be punished, lest acceptance of said drug (and alcohol, really) use be normalized to the point of nonchalance, like is often done in lower-income neighborhoods.

They grow up to be violent because of the cultures' predeliction for the glorification of violence and vice of all sorts. A large part of the reason for this is a lack of positive role models in the home.

It might reduce crimes of opportunity, but premeditated crimes would skyrocket due to the exclusionary nature of these laws.
