Yankees rallied to beat the Nats 5-3. Weathers was good, Bednar great. Jazz hit a two-run go ahead homer in ninth. Wells and Rice also homered. Goldy, Belli, Dominguez and Caballero each had two hits. Game 2 of 3 tomm afternoon.

The Athletics have placed first baseman, Nick Kurtz on the injured list, meaning Ben Rice will likely now start for the AL at 1B Tuesday in Philadelphia.

The Yankees may have two home grown starters if Schlittler starts.

Shohei Ohtani will not make his scheduled start on the mound this evening against the D-backs due to continued irritation in his left knee. He will serve as the designated hitter the rest of the weekend, but following the series against the D-backs he will have some interventions on his knee to put him in the best position for the second half of the season. Unfortunately, due to these events, he will not be able to travel to Philadelphia and participate in the 2026 All-Star Game.

However, Max Schuemann said Chisholm spoke up during the team's pregame hitters meeting & told the group they're better than they've been playing. He stressed stacking good at-bats and "not folding," Schuemann said.

"I feel like it really brought the guys together," Schuemann added, "and I think it needed to be said.”

Yankees earn a split in Tampa with 12-4 win this afternoon. They threw a bullpen game and pitched well using 7 pitchers. The offense awoke from the slumber with Rice hitting two homers and 5 RBI. 6 players had multi-hit games. Three game series in D.C. starts tomm night.

Giancarlo Stanton "had a whole new injury" last month, Cashman said. Still a calf strain, but it was in a different area than what he was initially dealing with.

Stanton just started running again, per Cashman, and has gotten PRP injections.
