Stark findings from CSO strongly demonstrating childhood lasts a lifetime. Living in households with unemployment & financial difficulties as child led to far greater chance of living in deprivation, being unemployed, being dissatisfied with life & having worse health as adult.
@amychozick I just wanted to thank you for your article in today's Irish Times. You've articulated aspects of the Irish psyche with great sensitivity but also called us out without pulling your punches. Difficult, but important reflections to raise in these divisive times.
@SoundsIrish Such a privilege to be at your book launch tonight, Sean! You are a wonderful story teller - I enjoyed every minute and will launch right into reading now!
If you are supporting a child who has been bereaved by suicide, the #SafeHarbour resources will be of help.
An accompanying podcast has been produced to help parents and carers use Safe Harbour, and to support them to have difficult conversations with their child about the death of their loved one.
The six episodes feature @pcdodd (@NOSPIreland), @gmc282 (@Barnardos_IRL) and Anna, a mother with lived experience of suicide loss.
They have been wonderfully produced and hosted by @BeGrandAndy.

#SafeHarbour was launched in @tcddublin this morning and if it was the only project I was ever involved in I'd be forever privileged and proud. The development of the illustrated story book for children bereaved by #suicide and their parents has been a labour of love.
After a suicide loss, 33% of men* said they experienced problems with family relationships.
Suicide bereavement can strain even the strongest family ties. HUGG Men can help you navigate the complexities of suicide grief and rebuild connections.

Written by Patricia Forde and illustrated by visual artist Bronagh Lee, this new @HSELive resource will empower parents or carers to have difficult conversations safely with their child around this sensitive topic.
It is accompanied by 'Safe Harbour: A Helpful Guide for Parents and Carers', which outlines how parents or carers can practically use the book. The guide is also helpful for any professionals who would like to integrate Safe Harbour into their work to support a child who has been bereaved by suicide.
The content in Safe Harbour has been developed by bereavement experts, professionals and people with lived experience. The book is dedicated to bereaved children and families in Ireland.
