People vehemently believe that there are safety nets in place if you become disabled. That no matter what, you have all your needs met. If you believe this, you’re in for a rude awakening if you ever become disabled.
It needs to be stated how groundbreaking this WE&ME call for funding is.
This is the first time a research funder has written requirements that ensure so much that patients have been emphasizing for years:
- PEM-inclusive criteria are mandatory
- Meaningful patient involvement in projects is encouraged, and patient experts get paid
-Severe and bedbound patients are actively prioritized
- All data must be open and deposited in MAP ME/CFS in order to reuse the raw data for future meta analyses
It is abundantly clear that this was written by patients - this is what it looks like when standards are built with and by us instead of *about* us.
This will be a template for future projects, and, mark my words, we are going to hold the line until these criteria are the minimum standard.
ever since my concussion a few months back my tolerance of screens has been low. i highly doubt they’d let me install flux on the work computer if i’m hired, but it’s always something i could ask about if i do get the job?
maybe stupid of me to be doing this but i got a job offer for a receptionist position and i’m going in for the interview on thursday. as far as i know the office isn’t super busy, i’m worried about PEM + potential worsening obvi but i’m in a pretty desperate position financially
An entirely new story is about to unfold.
