Without suggesting advocates lower their ambition, when seeking public support there's value in using terms that work for everyone, rather than having to explain or defend bolder language.

It's good to consider then use terms (and images) these groups understand rather than misinterpret or misrepresent

@psimonk @drivingmzstacey @awjre @MattPinder1 @ianwalker @adamtranter @bricycle @RantyHighwayman Car LIGHT could avoid the need for such explanations, and is probably a more accurate description than Car Free for neighbourhoods where resident motor access is retained, even if a majority of those residents live car-free lifestyles.

Still think 'people first' could be interpreted as 'place my personal right to drive first' whereas Car Always and Car Free seem unambiguous (even if Always is only an option for car owners)

@awjre @drivingmzstacey @MattPinder1 @ianwalker Saw that but like the consistency of each status being 'Car X' and the ultimate being Car Free - remember this should focus on the perspective of a 'normal' person or driver, who would likely argue they're not being put first. Also, 'car free' is already well used and understood.

'Discouraged' seems more provocative than 'Sometimes' - imposed rules versus user choices. It's not just car-centric minds that can't be told anything nowadays - people need to make their own decisions to embrace change.

Would 'equal' be in the middle if thinking from a car-centric perspective?
