@joseph_rohrbach@aisiantonas@elsilt fair enough - us comps (oral exam testing knowledge of subject) potentially good system to check understanding v regurgitation. think exam formats for humanities don’t help w stem disparity. personally pro most people coming out w good grades for jobs - less morally invested
@joseph_rohrbach@aisiantonas@elsilt what do you mean by ‘coast’? stu quality = hours spent working? personally believe that both sci and hum stus should be rewarded for more demonstrations of ‘done the work’ vs ‘next field defining scholar’ - 1st more important to most outcomes of hum degrees (ie not academia)
Krishnan Guru-Murthy, "I'm just trying to get answers to questions and if you can't answer the questions, I can't allow you to do the propaganda bit afterwards"
Israeli spokesman David Mencer, "You're such a sweetheart. Cheer up Krishnan" #C4News
Mencer, "We've got no beef with the people of Gaza, we're trying to get as much aid as we possibly can"
KGM, "Humanitarian organisations are saying its just too dangerous for them to carry on supplying aid because you kill their aid workers"
Mencer, "At some point you've got to take our side over Hamas"
KGM, "We don't take sides, we're journalists asking questions.. What about the other 196 other aid workers that have been murdered by Israeli strikes?"
Mencer, "Every civilian death is a catastrophe.. This operation is to focus on hamas and get our hostages out.. Aid workers from UNWRA actually participated.."
KGM, "I'm not asking about UNRWA, I'm asking about MSF"
Mencer, "I don't have any data on MSF to share with you"
KGM, "What about the British charity, Medical Aid for Palestine?"
Mencer, "I don't have any information but MAP are being investigated in the UK by the charity commission so that's probably not the best example"
KGM, "Did Israel bomb the Iranian consulate in Syria?"
Mencer, "I've got no comment on that"
question for OLDER GENERATIONS ONLY, not a joke, pls rt: at what point did creative writing and literary study become so separated and often even oppositional in their modes of inquiry / disciplinary norms? why is it like this? (1/?)
the oft-tumblr'd brian eno quote about a medium splintering around an emotional expression too massive to be contained by form is actually also a great explanation of why king lear is my favorite shakespeare play
Very tired of hearing about what the intentions are. If a system constantly produces a different outcome than the one it is "intended" for then it's perfectly reasonable to assume the actual intention is the outcome it continues to produce.
