Watching @FreddyLA7 the German World Cup fan road trip through the South and discover actual America has been one of my favorite things online.

Waffle House hash browns. Buc-ee’s snack aisles. Auburn’s stadium. River tubing. Fairhope sunsets. Random small towns that look like movie sets if you actually slow down long enough to notice them.

People fly here thinking America is New York, LA, Vegas, and Disney.

Then they end up somewhere in Georgia, Tennessee, or Alabama and realize the whole country is way weirder, prettier, friendlier, and more interesting than they were told.

That is the America I love watching people find.

i guess it’s finally a safe space to say both organizations have seemed to take a route of self sabotage. the grizzlies were marketed as the youngest, hottest team in 2022 and it seemed like the sky was their limit before the franchise suddenly traded away their best assets, intentionally went younger, stripped the culture off of the team, steered away from being warm towards the cities biggest artists and contributors, stopped clinging to that genuine MEMPHIS culture, nearly hit a hault on playing memphis rap in the arena, and proceeded to build shit/young rosters around their core when they seemed poised to compete. robert pera has hardly shown his face since coming here and has showed ZERO initiative in capitalizing on this era of grizzlies basketball and almost seems like they’ve tried to get the fans as upset, disinterested, and careless about the franchise as possible for the excuse to move the team due to lack of support.
