Joe Manchin, who is set to block key measures to cut planet-heating emissions, is the senate’s leading recipient of donations from oil and gas, coal mining and pipelines https://t.co/V7aBRX0t5j
I would very much enjoy it if @Sen_JoeManchin wasn’t dooming effective climate policy in the US, which will further reduce our credibility in Glasgow and doom my future! Haha!
Never forget that we had all the scientific evidence we needed to act on global warming over 40 years ago, but the fossil fuel industry spent millions to spread disinformation and block climate action.
Global warming isn’t a tragedy, it’s a crime.
It’s so easy to call your senators and demand big, bold climate action! Use the link below to call - they even have a guide for what to say. I also recommend mentioning why it’s important to you. #climatechange#actonclimate#call4climate

A lot of the coverage of the #IPCC report is only telling half of the story, reporting exclusively on devastation. This NYT article instead reports the whole story: the IPCC is clear: action is necessary, action is possible, and it's needed right now. /2

Shame on you @weatherchannel for this terrible click-bait headline. As someone who can trace her interest in the environment back to watching coverage of hurricanes as a child on your network, this was a bummer to see.
This is exactly how *NOT* to report on the IPCC #climatereport. The last (several?) IPCC reports stated the Earth will continue to warm even if we stopped carbon emissions instantly. What MATTERS is how much time we have left to curb emissions before we reach a tipping point 1/2
after which there is no chance of keeping the planet hospitable for future generations of humans. This headline breeds hopelessness and will stop folks from acting when we need them most. We still have time to avoid the worst of #climatechange. We must act NOW. 2/2
Small fish, big impact! “Forage fish” are a critical link in marine food webs, providing food to whales, dolphins, sea birds and sharks. But they’re under threat by climate change, habitat loss and overfishing.
Drinking a lead-free glass of water should not be determined by your zip code.
If my Drinking Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Act got signed into law, we could replace our lead pipes and give people good-paying jobs to do it. Win-win.
I've always thought of #EarthDay as a time to gather for direct action - a park clean up, petition signing, a march. The last two Earth Days have been...not that. Thankfully instead, I've had the best calls with @krystyna__meyer and I hope they continue every year for 4ever
We shared this statistic during Chicago's last budget season, and unfortunately, not much has changed. This #EarthDay , let's recommit ourselves to addressing the climate crisis with boldness and urgency.
