Late this afternoon, Governor Pritzker announced that all Illinois K-12 schools will be closing starting on Tues., March 17 and running through Mon., March 30. District 102 will still be in session on Mon., March 16 as planned.

Congratulations to all our participants in the Dist 102 Spelling Bee. This year’s runner up is Ava Conway. The champion this year is Gavin Taylor. Outstanding job!

MH Men's Club President Dale Hamm attended tonight’s School Board meeting to present a $9,050 check to the District. The generous donation will be used to fund a variety of activities in our schools. Thanks to the Men’s Club for its continued support of Dist. 102!

Students return to school from winter break on Tues., Jan. 7, 2020. Only teachers and staff return to work on Mon., Jan. 6 for a Teacher Institute Day. On Monday, District 102 teachers will join other Pekin area educators at Pekin High School for the joint institute day.

Miss Hickey’s class (in coordination with National Geographic) participated in a videoconference with an environmental scientist stationed in Vietnam and learned about their culture and environment.

Student council is conducting a canned food drive this week. All of the items donated will help people in our own community have enough to eat during this holiday season. Items that you bring in can be dropped off on the auditorium stage in the mornings before school.

Everyone had a great time at Grandparents Day. A special thank you to the cafeteria staff that did a great job of preparing our Thanksgiving dinner. And thank you to everyone that was able to join us today. It was wonderful to see see you all.

Today is Veterans Day! While we do have school today, we make it a special purpose to celebrate Veterans with our Veterans Day program. Veterans are invited to a 12:30 social with coffee and cake, followed by a 1:15 assembly honoring our special guests. All Veterans are welcome!

District 102 schools will be celebrating Veterans Day with a program honoring Veterans and their service. Veterans are invited for a coffee/cake social at 12:30pm in the GMS cafeteria, followed by a 1:15pm program in the GMS gymnasium.

We had a little Halloween fun before sending the kids home today. It may not look like Halloween outside, but we had a ghoulishly good time inside!
