The Shiloh Hendrix case isn't even a close call or a grey area. She was charged and convicted of a crime for saying a word. If that's not a violation of the First Amendment, nothing is. This is one of the most straight forward free speech issues we've seen in a long time.

The white pill of The Odyssey is that Zeus’ law was never about endless tolerance. Hospitality came with obligations.

The suitors abused xenia. They consumed another man’s resources, dishonored his household, violated every sacred duty of a guest, & refused to leave.

The lesson isn’t “never welcome strangers.” It’s that hospitality ceases to be hospitality when it’s exploited.

We’re living in a culture obsessed with escaping reality. High, drunk, endlessly entertained— anything but sitting with suffering.

But suffering isn’t the enemy. It’s one of the ways God sanctifies us.

As St. Paul says: “If we suffer with Him, we may also be glorified with Him.” (Rom. 8:17)

The goal of life isn’t to feel good. It’s to become holy.
