I've shared a new paper in a separate post (link in comments) that critically examines #GaussianProcesses.

The paper's experiments demonstrate that Gaussian processes are inherently miscalibrated and never achieve proper calibration!

Despite this, parts of the UK academic community have for decades promoted Gaussian processes as a "robust uncertainty quantification framework', even though they generally fail to provide the calibrated predictions necessary for safe and reliable machine learning.
